5W INTERVIEW

Sono attratto dalle arts and craft.

So many ideas and thoughts passing through my mind. Time has come for a reflection. I feel the need to define my creative process.

Here are some questions I ask my self, thinking about the creativity in the digital age. To find and to live in a well-shaped identity has always been my main mission as a couturier. I have probably made some bad choices during this research, but what I was really looking for - from the very beginning - was to express an idea of beauty which it would be, for better or worse, absolutely mine and unique. So, continue reading to discover it through my (hopefully wise) words, my mind and my vision.

Where do I find my inspirations?
The guidelines that characterize my work stem from my denial of the dictates of the fashion system and trends. Dressing is an expression of oneself, the formal representation of the individual's own personality.
Contemporary subcultures and tailoring of the past are the two elements where I draw for my creations draw from, mixing the rebellious spirit of youth with the precision of cuts and lines. Music, art and writing are the cultural basins that inspire me (also thanks to my great collector's passion) always with an eye on what we are currently facing and onto the future: my key-word is innovation, even when the collections refer to historical periods and the classics of the past.Modern proportions, a constant search for avant-garde fabrics, and, above all, the union merge between the purity of the garment’s construction and the experimentation of new lines that represent the body of the contemporary woman.

Who is the Maison Luigi Borbone woman?
A woman with her own personality. My women are a new and different tribe, they are both sophisticated and wild . In their world, everything is possible, They are brave women like me who have chosen to work on my name and instead of putting me beside another fashion house.

What is my dream?
My dream is to realize the dreams of the ladies close to me. Being connected to the world, being able to see the greatest number of women wearing my creations for them. I am a couturier, I make haute couture, I build my clothes and therefore, like many friends, customers tell me that I am a dream maker.

When will I consider myself a happy person?
I'm already happy, I am living my dream, I enjoy beauty: I love nature! I live just outside Rome where birds singing is the only noise. Also, I personally take care of my garden where I collect roses. I am happy when I can buy antique furniture, cups, Chinese porcelain, 80s and 90s vinyl. I have very few friends, I love good Italian cuisine and I like to lay a dinner with the ceramics and glasses and the tablecloth left by my grandmother. I do not love "thunderstorms": I am a very routine type of person although dynamic and curious at the same time. I also resumed to travel. Soon I will go to the East.

Why is the creative process so relevant for a couturier?
I studied architecture and even before my grandmother and my mum (both experts in tailoring) I always wanted to understand how to design and implement a project. I am attracted by craftsmanship, unique and historical workmanship and by the idea of turning them into something contemporary. It is not easy to create something: sometimes I feel frustration because the artisanal quality process is slow both in the planning and in the realization aspect, and that's why I'm learning not to be crushed by the tight schedules of the traditional fashion system.
